Curriculum Reform

Wide-ranging curriculum reform was required to strengthen the relevance and quality of coursework and applied learning opportunities offered by USPCAS-E at both NUST and UET Peshawar. Through technical assistance provided by ASU, this process  used an interdisciplinary approach that is developing and relating courses and subject matter to public and private sector needs rather than adhering strictly to traditional, theory-based content.

The reformed academic program offered by each partner university is providing regular opportunities for experiential learning as exemplified by workplace internships and student participation in advanced research. The curricula developed and offered by each university is multidisciplinary and includes broadly transferable skills that enhance graduate competitiveness. The curriculum reform process involves students and faculty with input from the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan, the government and stakeholders.

ASU’s support involved the continuous review of existing degree programs and courses at NUST and UET Peshawar, identification of areas where they were outdated or irrelevant to public and private sector needs, and determining which new courses are needed.
